Li Wang
Dr. Li Wang is a Senior Research Scientist in the Department of Pharmacology & Therapeutics at Roswell Park Cancer Institute. She received a B.A. in Clinical Medicine from Wuhan University (1998), an M.S. in Internal Medicine from Tongji Medical College (2003), and a Ph.D. in Human Genetics from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (2010).
Prior to joining Roswell Park in 2017, She conducted research in the Department of Medical Genetics at the University of Texas–Houston, where her work led to the discovery of MYLK gene mutations associated with aortic diseases.
In addition, Dr. Wang has committed to community service. While living in New York City, she served as a board member for the Play Area Association, a community organization supporting over 250 families and 450 children. Her role was involved in recruiting teachers and organizing events. She also volunteered with the Sloan Scholars Family Association, where she led sing-along and storytelling sessions for preschool children.
Since relocating to Buffalo, she has continued her community involvement by teaching English to Chinese seniors to help them adapt to a new culture. She also serves as a mentor for middle and high school students preparing for science competitions, fostering the next generation of young scientists.
