Janet Cerra

Janet Cerra is currently the Director of the Kenton Family Support Center, is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Certified School Counselor. She is also a long time adjunct Professor in the Mental Health Counseling Master’s program at Canisius College teaching social and cultural issues in counseling. Ms. Cerra is a past Lecturer at the University of Buffalo and Medaille College. She is a certified EMDR therapist; trained DBT therapist and has a mental health counseling private practice.


Ms. Cerra started her career working as a social worker in a grass roots organization serving children and families in Swaziland Africa.  Her enthusiasm for grass roots community work is still evident today through her building of a free clinic for the Kenmore Town of Tonawanda community.


Ms. Cerra is a graduate of the University of Illinois Chicago and received her master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Canisius College.  She recently won the prestigious Western New York Educational Service Council (WNYESC) 2021 Award for Excellence.  Past awards include Canisius College Award for Excellence in Supervision
