Nathan has been involved in higher education in one way or another almost his whole life. He spent part of his childhood living in an international student residence hall at Buffalo State College. This atmosphere created a passion for learning about other cultures, which he translated into a Religious Studies degree with a concentration on the religions of Asia and a semester at Beijing Language and Culture University. 

Nathan often says that studying abroad was the best academic experience of his life. He went on to complete a Master's degree in Multidisciplinary Studies at Buffalo State, and in 2019 accomplished the goal of working in the field of global education when he was named Director of Applied Learning and Global Engagement at SUNY Erie Community College. As Director, Nathan overseas International Student Services, study abroad, internships, and service-learning.
