Saina Gao

As a science teacher and a Chinese language teacher, Saina has over ten years of teaching experience from K to 12. Since she teaches both in China and the US, Saina has faced diverse groups of students from different cultures. She is also the Director of Teaching at Buffalo Chinese School, in which students learn Chinese as a heritage language. From her perspective, culture competence is a core capacity for students’ development. Typically, it is the priority for those students who are second-generation immigrants. 


Saina received her Master's degree, majored in Education Studies, from University at Buffalo. She gained her bachelor's degree from Nanjing Normal University in China, with a major in Physics Teacher Education.


Saina has a strong desire to be a mentor for the BFB program to create an inclusive culturally diverse community that supports and advocates for mental health and wellness. With professional knowledge and personal experience, Saina has a passion to assist and support the students who have immigrant family backgrounds in this program.
